Fitnessgram Tests
The state of California requires physical fitness tests called the Fitnessgram. The Fitnessgram consists of fitness tests to help assess fitness levels in five areas: 1. Aerobic Capacity, 2.Body Composition, 3. Muscular Strength, 4. Muscular Endurance, and 5. Flexibility. Studies have proven that meeting the “Healthy Zones” for all five areas help to prevent diseases and chronic problems due to inactivity, such as diabetes, heart problems, and chronic back pain. Throughout the school year students will gain knowledge on each of the five components of health-related fitness and shown correct form and practice procedures in each area. Everyday students will be given homework to practice and improve in their fitness levels for each of the five components of health-related fitness. Students will learn healthy habits to last a lifetime(you need to brush your teeth everyday and you need to exercise everyday). We encourage parents to support your child’s fitness level by participating with them and role modeling healthy habits. Fitnessgram Healthy Zones
Developed in 1982 by The Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas, FitnessGram was designed to increase parental awareness of children's fitness levels by developing an easy way for physical education teachers to report the results of physical fitness assessments. Scores are evaluated against objective criterion standards that indicate a level of fitness necessary for health.
